01

Choosing Your Diamond

The 4Cs simplified. Here’s what really matters.

Cut

How well a diamond reflects light. Cut affects brightness, sparkle and contrast.

Clarity

The amount of natural inclusions inside a diamond. Most are microscopic.

Carat

The weight of a diamond. Carat affects overall size and presence.

Colour

The absence of colour in a diamond. Less colour creates a whiter appearance.

HOW DO DIAMONDS DIFFER?

Diamond size & colour guide

Carat refers to the weight and visible size of a diamond, while colour describes how white or warm a diamond appears. As carat weight increases, diamonds generally appear larger and create a greater visual presence. Higher colour grades, such as D, display a brighter white appearance than grades such as G, which may show a slight natural yellow warmth.

0.50ct G colour diamond G Subtle natural warmth visible 1.00ct F colour diamond F Near colourless appearance 1.50ct E colour diamond E Bright white with minimal warmth 2.00ct D colour diamond D Exceptionally white appearance

WHAT DOES CLARITY LOOK LIKE?

Understanding diamond clarity

Clarity refers to the natural internal characteristics found within a diamond. These characteristics, known as inclusions, are formed during the diamond's growth. Higher clarity grades contain fewer and less visible inclusions, with VVS1 diamonds generally appearing cleaner under magnification than VS2 diamonds.

VS2 clarity VS2 Small inclusions visible VS1 clarity VS1 Very small inclusions VVS2 clarity VVS2 Extremely difficult to detect VVS1 clarity VVS1 Nearly impossible to detect

LAB GROWN OR NATURAL?

A question of origin, not beauty.

Natural diamonds are formed by nature over billions of years, while lab grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that replicates the conditions under which diamonds form. Both are real diamonds with identical physical, chemical and optical properties. Natural diamonds are rarer, which contributes to their higher market value and higher prices.

White Gold

Its white appearance is achieved through a combination of alloy metals and rhodium plating.

Rose Gold

Its blush tone comes from the addition of copper alloys during the manufacturing process.
